The other day we discussed trains and looked at an informational text about them. The text included diesel trains, electric trains, steam trains, monorails, express trains and passenger trains. We talked about what made each train go, what cargo they carried and their destinations.
At the activity table we made some name trains. We had letters pre-written onto the cards. The children used their name tags to help them sort the letters into the right order and then glued the carriages behind the engine.
As we are also incorporating number into our focus on Transport we decided to sort our name trains according to how many letters are in our name. The children counted them at the table and we talked about who had more letters, less letters or the same amount of letters.
