Recently we were discussing the “ingredients” needed to make a rainbow. We watched a Youtube video on how rainbows were made and we also watched the My Friends Tigger and Pooh episode entitled Chasing Pooh’s Rainbow. We discovered that both sunshine and rain are key ingredients to make a rainbow.
Following our discussion we made our own rainbows using different coloured card. Each colour was slightly shorter than the one before. We stapled them together at one end and then pushed it into a curve until all the other ends met.
We then stapled these together and glued it to some heavier white card.
We started a class art project to make a large rainbow also. We scrunched up pieces of crepe paper to complete it. Great fine motor skill practice!
We added a raindrop counting activity to the day also.
I was impressed with this child who could not only count to 22 but wrote the number herself also.
We added a Noah’s Ark playset to a table and talked about how the rainbow is God’s promise to never flood the Earth again.
