The next page in our Farm themed colour book looked at farmers. Our farmer is wearing the classic blue overalls sported by many farmers worldwide. We found some overalls online and printed a copy out for each child. We glued these onto our page and the children drew in the rest of the farmer. A lot of our farmers also had the standard straw hat and boots. We talked about the kind of footwear you need to wear on farms and had a good giggle at the idea of wearing high heels in the paddock.
The local annual agricultural show is coming up close to Easter and each year we make some artwork to display in the show. This year we are making a farming picture to display. We started off our pictures by drawing some hills on an A3 page in Artline texta. Then we filled in each section of our hills with yellow, brown or green paint.
I bought a farming photo prop on eBay and we took pics of the children posing in it. We will cut the tractors and farmers out and glue them onto our backgrounds. I think we will add some small squares of thick cardboard behind the farmers to raise them off the page and create another depth to our pictures. Then they will be ready for framing and labelling ready for the show.
