We’ve been working on our Red Barn, Red Barn book this week and have completed the yellow duck page. The children traced a duck template and then added a beak, eye and legs. We glued on yellow squares of tissue paper to make the ducks feathers. We had to be a little inventive about what to use for feathers. I would’ve liked to have used real feathers but they are a little expensive and the ones we have come in small packets of different colours so there’s only about 4 yellow feathers per packet.
We also made some ducks in a pond like the ones from National Wildlife Federation. The children drew their own ducks and then glued them onto the popstick.
We cut a slot into a paper plate so the ducks could swim on the pond. The children coloured the plate in blue.
