This year we had a little elf visit our class. Well actually she was quite a big plush elf that I got from Harvey Norman one year. We used her in the same way as the elf on a shelf tradition. She was found tangled in our decorations one day and she toilet papered our Christmas tree on another. We had a class vote to name her and in the end she was named Ribbon Jingle.
We decided it might be nice to “elf” ourselves so we printed out pictures of our faces and set about making elf bodies to stick on the bottom. I forgot to take a picture of the finished product but you can see Mrs Morrow’s Kindergarten’s idea that we got inspiration from HERE.
There were a lot skills evident in this activity. Fine motor skills in the concertina folding of the arms, cutting skills, gluing skills and patterning skills on the legs alternating red and green stripes. Our elves had blue shirts, red concertina folded arms with green mittens, red and green patterned stockings with black elf shoes and red hats. They looked awesome hanging together decorating our room.
