The second story in our Children’s Bible was titled The Most Special Baby. The story starts with Joseph and Mary travelling to Bethlehem on a donkey. We discussed why they would’ve done that. Why didn’t they take a car or a plane? The children find it hard to believe that people used to walk everywhere or ride a donkey. They were also a little awestruck about the clothing that was worn.
At the activity table we started our nativity scene by painting a sunset onto A3 cartridge paper. We used fluorescent purple, pink and orange to create our sunset. On another activity table we made a stable using popsticks. Some were a little wonky and I felt for the poor Holy family residing in them. We drew Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus inside the stable. When they were both dry we glued the stable to the background and added a gold star and glitter. Now these beautiful little Nativity scenes are brightening up our classroom.
