We’ve rounded up our Fairy Tale focus by making some puppet theatres and a character to go in it. The children were able to choose their favourite fairy tale character. Some chose the gingerbread man while others chose Little Red Riding Hood.
We gave the children some A4 card that had a window precut into it. They drew on a stage curtain and some decorations such as trees, flowers and the occasional Big Bad Wolf peeking out from behind the tree. Then we stapled the theatres into a cylindrical shape to fit over their hands.
We used an outline to create our characters and then taped it to a popstick. The puppet theatre sits over your hand holding the popstick character. We told stories in excited voices with our new little toys.
The last day of our Fairy Tale focus was celebrated with a dress up day. We had a dragon, Red Riding Hood, some pirates, princesses, fairies and knights congregating in our classroom. (It did make running race practice for our Athletics Carnival a little hard!) My Education Assistant, Cynthia, and I also dressed up to get into the spirit of the day. If you’d like to see a picture of the two of us head over to our facebook page and like Friday’s post asking for 20 likes to see it. Here’s a little teaser for you 😉
