Last Thursday night we held our annual Father’s Night. We always hold it on the Thursday night before Father’s Day. Our class does not attend school on Fridays so this gives them the next day off if they are tired. We send out an invitation the week before asking dads (or a male adult representative) to come and join us at Kindy. We hold the event at night time so most dads are able to come after work. We had a couple of dads who could not make it due to various reasons so their mums came along instead.
We set up five different stations and this year I also took along my telescope. It was an almost full moon on Thursday and the moon came up right over our Kindy roof just as the sun went down so it was perfect for viewing. Here’s some pictures of our stations and our telescope.
A lot of the dads were a bit wary of the shaving station. I don’t blame them. I was watching some of that shaving cream getting quite close to their eyes. It was nice to see them do it for their child anyway.
They also braved the handprint station without getting too covered in paint.
We also decorated our room with the pictures we drew of our dads the other day. We painted them and stuck them to card with some words about our dads. Here’s one of the completed pictures.
After the activities we gave the dads the gifts we had made them and had a sausage sizzle supper followed by an icecream cone. Everyone had a lovely time and a lot of dads expressed their thanks for the effort we put in.
