Today we spent some time doing last minute preparations for our Father’s Night. We dug into our filing cabinet and found the Father’s Night station posters we made last year. We had 5 different stations that the dads could participate in. We let the dads and children decide which activities they want to do and how many they wish to do. These are the stations we have: Plasticine station, Shaving station, Lightning Bug station, Woodworking station and Handprint station. This year I am also taking along a telescope so that the dads and their child can do some star gazing if they wish.
We like to get the children to draw a picture of their dads to display on the night. We draw them with Artline texta and paint them with Edicol dyes. Once they’re dry we glue them to some backing card. We ask they children to tell us something about their dad and we type out what they say and glue this under their picture. It’s interesting the things you learn about when they tell you stories about home. This girl was drawing her dad surrounded by balloons. She told me that her dad loves parties. She said he also likes to do roly poleys on the trampoline. He sounds like a very fun dad to have.
Here’s a small sampling of some of our dads.
