During the mid year holidays I had these lofty ambitions to create a whole pile of new resources for my classroom, of which one or two actually transpired. The first ambition was to create a set of meaningful number posters for my classroom. Posters the children could “own” for themselves because they feature in them.
I asked each child to pose for me holding up a different number of fingers. I used Photoshop to cut them out from their background, made the background transparent and then created my own backgrounds to place them in. The set includes the numbers from 1-20.
When I put them up today the children were transfixed by them. There were plenty of murmurs of, “Hey, that’s me” or “I’m number 3” or “I’m making 15 with Jack”. Priceless.
